#ccGlobal

The concept of #ccGlobal started back in June 2011 when Pam Moran connected Liam Dunphy to see if schools in Albemarle County, Virginia, USA could connect in a similar way to the successful connection between Liam’s school in Sydney, Australia with Van Meter Elementary School in Iowa, USA. Since there were too many schools in VA to connect with Liam’s school, the concept evolved to have a matrix of connections between schools in VA and Sydney. When Pam and Liam started to promote the idea to their PLNs on Twitter, the concept spread to include schools in Ireland and the UK.

Google Plus hangouts were used to collaborate and brainstorm a number of potential ideas to use for global connections. During one of our hangouts Lucy Bentley, from Oddizzi in London, recommended the use of a closed network for members so that her company could offer incentives to officially signed-up members. The Ning social network ccGlobal.Ning.com now contains the official membership and information about projects. Invitations to join can be found at this location: http://ccglobal.ning.com/?xgi=356wQH1jomCiuh
