ccGlobal Earthquake Project

Hey all,

This past Friday we discussed working on an earthquake project, especially since we (the Charlottesville, VA group) was just 40 miles from the epicenter of the recent earthquake. Here are some ideas I have for the project so far. Please feel free to contribute. We were talking on Friday during our video chat that we could work on the projects through Edmodo (Liam created the group already!) and have the finished product compiled on a Google Site.

Here’s what I have so far for projects that can be completed:

personal experiences
interviews with people who have been in earthquakes
famous earthquakes and their impact on history
why earthquakes happen
earthquakes’ effect on oceans
why certain areas are more susceptible to earthquakes and why

What Walton Middle School (Charlottesville, VA) has committed to contributing (so far):

6th grade science class: History of earthquakes in VA, geology of VA, location of N.A. plates, impact of that on VA plates, are earthquakes rare in VA?
6th grade language arts class: Descriptive narrative about where you were, what you thought, etc. during the earthquake
